Frequently Asked Questions

WHY SHOULD I HIRE A SCRIPT CONSULTANT?

Having an experienced Hollywood insider analyze your script is invaluable, especially someone with over 20 years of mainstream story development and production knowledge. While there are many script consultants to choose from, few have my extensive, proven track record as seen in my “About” page. My filmography demonstrates my ability to create mainstream, successful films that have garnered much praise. There are also online platforms that aim to connect writers with Hollywood producers for script feedback. I’m eliminating the middleman (or woman) and promising to work with you directly. You’ll communicate exclusively with me - no gatekeepers, just direct access.

WHY DO I HAVE TO HAVE AN INITIAL 30-MIN CONSULTATION?

I’ve been developing scripts with writers for over 20 yrs and have learned that the most successful screenplays come from a strong writer + producer relationship. This initial consult is necessary for each of us to get to know one another, discover if we’re on the same page (pun intended), and see if we have a meeting of the minds. This will also allow me to hear the basics about your project(s), experience, taste, and expectations.

WHAT ARE THOSE NEXT STEPS?

In order for me to engage as your professional script consultant, I will have you fill out two legal documents - a submission release form and a services contract. You will submit those completed documents to me alongside a PDF of your script, pilot, treatment, or pitch.

WHY DO I NEED TO FILL OUT A SUBMISSION RELEASE FORM AND SERVICES CONTRACT?

This is for legal protection and to maintain clear boundaries and expectations regarding the agreed-upon services. Every film and TV company I have ever worked with, from major studios to production companies, financiers, and agencies, has never allowed unsolicited materials. In the rare instances when I was permitted to accept creative material directly from a writer, those companies required a submission release form. This practice is standard across Hollywood for copyright purposes and protections.

HOW LONG WILL IT TAKE BEFORE I RECEIVE YOUR FEEDBACK?

Once I have received all of your submission documents, we will set our official consultation meeting within 2 weeks. If you have also requested written, professional creative notes on your script, those will take one additional week (and are yours to keep).

WHAT FORMAT WILL YOU ACCEPT FOR CREATIVE FILES?

PDF only. This applies to any creative materials (scripts, treatments, etc.). No hard copies will be accepted.

WHAT TYPES OF CREATIVE MATERIALS DO YOU ACCEPT?

Any and all film and television materials - film scripts, film treatments, film and tv story pitches (verbal or written), tv pilot scripts, tv bibles, episode guides, pitch decks, or maybe you have several ideas for film or tv projects — I’m happy to hear those loglines/general story details and give you advice on which would be the most suitable for adaptation.

HOW DO I PAY?

Payments will be accepted via Venmo, Zelle or PayPal (for international clients), and payment is due in advance of any meetings or rendered services. This includes the $50 initial consultation. Once I’ve received payment, we will set our initial consultation. If we agree to continue with script consultant services, your full payment will be due alongside your two signed legal forms + PDF(s) of your creative material(s). Payment must be received before I can begin reading any creative materials. Please note no refunds will be given.

WILL WE MEET IN PERSON OR VIRTUALLY?

All meetings will be virtual.

IF AFTER OUR OFFICIAL CONSULTATION I WANT TO SEND YOU MORE SCRIPTS, PITCHES, OR SHARE A FUTURE DRAFT, IS THAT ALLOWED?

Yes! I would love to continue helping you with future drafts/rewrites and new projects/ideas. You can choose multiple services at once, for multiple projects if so desired. In this case, we will have separate submission release forms and services contracts for each project you’d like to submit for consultation.

WHAT IF I DON’T LIKE THE FEEDBACK?

I have been working with up-and-coming as well as well-established, high-profile writers and talent for over 20 years. I pride myself in the positive way in which I provide script feedback - always with a listening ear, solutions at the ready, and a collaborative spirit in hand. That said, it’s human nature to occasionally have differing viewpoints on story and notes. A writer is never forced to take every creative note that is given, which is why a strong writer + producer relationship is so important. Since creativity is subjective, I unfortunately cannot offer any refunds or exchanges on services. However, I promise to apply my decades of proven experience to your script and always give you my honest opinion.

CAN I ASK YOU TO PRODUCE MY PROJECT?

No. I am not looking to take on any new producing projects in film or television at this time. My passion for being a script consultant only goes as deep as story development, and wanting to make your story, characters, structure, dialogue, etc. the very best they can be, to give you the best shot at getting your project made. However, if I come across an extremely talented writer with tons of promise, I know hundreds of agents and managers in Hollywood and would consider sharing your material with a representative, if the writer agreed to it.

WILL YOU KEEP MY SCRIPT CONFIDENTIAL?

Absolutely. I will not share, duplicate, or distribute your script or any creative materials to anyone else without your advanced, expressed permission.
